Co-founder, President & CEO
Mikael co-founded BeVocal in March of 1999 and as CEO has been responsible for setting the strategic vision for the company and managing its overall operations. He has an extensive history in delivering innovative technology solutions to address new markets. Prior to BeVocal Mikael worked at ZSP Corporation where he marketed and sold leading-edge digital signal processing solutions. ZSP was acquired by LSI Logic in 1999. Mikael previously worked at Panasonic in Osaka, Japan where he built and delivered systems for PHS - a Japanese digital wireless phone system. PHS was one of the most successful electronic consumer products in history growing to over 1 million units sold just 6 months after launch. He also setup and managed the joint venture between Panasonic Osaka and IMEC in Belgium to research and build next generation digital signal processors. Mikael’s first job was at Cardiac Telecom in Pittsburgh PA where as an intern he designed and wrote an FDA approved software telecommunications system to monitor cardiac patients. Mikael holds a masters degree in engineering from Cornell and a BSEE from the University of Pittsburgh.
Leo Haasbroek
VP of Professional Services
As Vice President of Professional Services, Leo is responsible for developing, deploying and improving the business solutions we host for our customers. Leo has many years of international experience leading teams in the enterprise software industry and specializes in leading change and installing operational excellence in high-growth companies. He most recently filled the role of Vice President of Professional Services at Nuance Communications Inc. and prior to that he filled several senior management positions in Solutions Delivery and Business Development at various high-tech companies in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany and South Africa. Leo received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Electronic Engineering School of the University of Pretoria where he graduated cum laude.
David Hartig
VP of Product Engineering
As Vice President of Product Engineering, Dave is responsible for leading the team developing the core technologies that support the business solutions we provide our customers. Dave has many years of experience in leading engineering teams that developed robust, highly available call processing and application software for the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining BeVocal, Dave was the VP of Engineering at Clarus Systems a developer of Voice over IP software components. Prior to that he held engineering executive positions at Mockingbird Networks, Empirix and Comverse Network Systems. Dave received an MBA from Boston University, an MSEE from Northeastern University and SB in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
John Ironmonger
VP of Network Operations
As Vice President of Network Operations, John is responsible for managing BeVocal’s Voice Hosting Network. John manages a team of System Administrators, Network Engineers and Operations staff members who take day-to-day responsibility for networking, telephony, database administration, systems administration, network monitoring and network capacity expansions. With 20 years of IT experience, John has the focus and discipline to properly manage changes to the network thereby ensuring high availability. Prior to joining BeVocal, John managed Novell Networks’ global network infrastructure. He headed a worldwide team charged with providing network connectivity to all Novell offices and business partners. John also has extensive experience working in IT in the Asia pacific region.
John Mahlmeister
VP of Sales
As Vice President of Sales, John is responsible for BeVocal's sales, sales engineering and partnership teams. With over 14 years of experience, John has built a long career specializing in managing large enterprise clients and crafting solutions specific to their needs. Prior to joining BeVocal, John served as VP of Business Development at Securify, a software company focused on providing network security solutions. John has also headed up Client Services for Totality Corporation, an outsourcer of e-commerce systems, and served as a Principal at Gemini Consulting, providing strategic management consulting services to Fortune 500 companies. John started his career as an Engineer and Program Manager for General Motors. John has an MBA from The Wharton School and a BSEE from General Motors Institute.
Mark O'Connor
VP of Finance
As Vice President of Finance & Administration, Mark is responsible for the company's finance, accounting, human resources, investor relations and all legal activities. He brings 16 years of corporate finance, accounting and business strategy experience to BeVocal, spanning pre-revenue start-ups, rapid growth companies and Fortune 500 enterprises. Prior to joining BeVocal, Mark was CFO at Appshop, where he was instrumental in the company's growth and sale to USinternetworking. He also served as CFO of BroadWord Communications, and has worked in senior level financial positions at Watershed Capital, International Network Services and Consolidated Freightways. Mark received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska.
Steve Tran
Co-founder, VP of Client Solutions
As Vice President of Client Solutions, Steve is responsible for BeVocal's account management and solution delivery activities. Steve co-founded BeVocal in 1999 and led the establishment of its marketing, business development, sales, client solutions, and finance organizations. Prior to BeVocal, Steve worked in business development, primarily focusing on M&A and complex IP licensing transactions at Cadence Design Systems. He has also worked as an investment banker at Petrie Parkman & Co. and as a systems engineer at Compaq Computer Corporation. Steve received his MBA from The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College, where he graduated with honors as a Tuck Scholar. He received his undergraduate degree at Rice University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
